Grapefruit Gelato (31.011% THCa) – Premium THCa Flower
Grapefruit Gelato is a Hybrid THCa flower strain from the modern dessert lineage. This living soil batch tests at 31.011% THCa with 32.324% total cannabinoids and a 2.64% terpene profile that is emphatically myrcene-led — β-myrcene alone accounts for 1.37%, or 52% of everything measured, one of the most single-terpene-dominant panels on our menu. It is the highest-THCa flower in this release, and the creamy-grapefruit-over-fuel character the name promises comes through as a citrus top note over a deep, earthy base rather than as a bright citrus bomb.
Overview
Grapefruit Gelato is a Hybrid strain grown here in living soil. This batch tests at 31.011% THCa, 27.494% total THC, and 32.324% total cannabinoids, with Δ9-THC at 0.297% and total CBD at 0.047%. The minor cannabinoid fraction is unusually broad — nine analytes above detection: CBGa 0.446%, CBCa 0.247%, THCVa 0.114%, CBG 0.073%, CBDa 0.054%, CBC 0.032%, Δ8-THC 0.022%, CBDVa 0.018% and THCV 0.011%.
Total terpenes come in at 2.64%, and one terpene owns the panel: β-myrcene at 1.37%, which is 52% of the profile and nearly four times the next entry. Behind it: limonene 0.35% (13%), α-pinene 0.29% (11%), β-pinene 0.13%, linalool 0.10%, cis-β-ocimene 0.09%, trans-caryophyllene 0.09%, menthol 0.06%, guaiol 0.05%, endo-fenchyl alcohol 0.05%, α-humulene 0.03% and camphene 0.02%.
About the name and the chemistry. A strain called Grapefruit Gelato invites you to expect a limonene-dominant citrus panel. This one is not that, and that is normal rather than a defect. Neither documented lineage for this strain contains an actual Grapefruit parent — the name describes the aroma outcome, not the parentage — and the comparable grapefruit-named cultivars behave the same way: Grapefruit Kush and Romulan Grapefruit are both reported myrcene-dominant with pinene ahead of limonene, exactly the rank order in this batch. The one breeder-adjacent terpene listing published for Grapefruit Gelato also puts myrcene first and limonene second. Our lab agrees with it.

Aroma and Flavor
The nose opens deep and earthy-musky — that is 1.37% myrcene, and at this concentration it is the first thing you smell — with a tart grapefruit-rind lift from the 0.35% limonene sitting on top of it. The combined 0.42% pinene brings a clean, resinous pine sharpness that reads as the “fuel” note in every published description of this strain, and the 0.10% linalool adds a soft floral edge that keeps the whole thing from going flat.
On the palate it is creamy grapefruit over sweet earth: tart citrus peel on the draw, a rounded sweetness through the middle, and a resinous, faintly herbal finish with a cool menthol touch on the exhale. Every independent source describing this strain lands on creamy, grapefruit and fuel together, and those three notes map cleanly onto myrcene, limonene and pinene respectively. This is a case where the reputation and the lab data actually agree.
Effects and Usage
Published descriptions of Grapefruit Gelato lean euphoric, uplifting and creative, with dispensary menus for the commercial cut consistently framing it as a daytime option. Weedmaps describes euphoria and uplift with a relaxed body that keeps energy steady; seed retailers list happy, creative and hungry, though the same listing also flags couch-lock and anxiety as possible.
This batch tilts toward the heavier reading. Myrcene at 1.37% and 52% of the profile is a lot of body — more than almost anything else on our menu — and with limonene at only 0.35% there is limited bright lift to counterbalance it. Expect a euphoric, pleasant onset that settles into genuine physical relaxation fairly quickly. We would put this in the afternoon-into-evening slot rather than the all-day one, and it suits unwinding, appetite and sleep-adjacent use better than it suits focus work. At 31.011% THCa this is the strongest flower in this release; start small if you are not used to this potency band.
Strain Background
There is no single canonical Grapefruit Gelato, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. At least two genetically unrelated cultivars are sold under this name by different breeders, and — despite what the name suggests — neither of them is Grapefruit × Gelato. No source anywhere documents that cross.
Version one, the seed line: Precursor Genetics sells “Grapefruit Gelato S1,” a feminized self-pollinated line listed as Secret Donor × Wedding Crasher. Wedding Crasher is Symbiotic Genetics’ Wedding Cake × Purple Punch. “Secret Donor” is exactly what it sounds like — an undisclosed proprietary male with no published lineage anywhere — so this version’s genetics are only half-known even at the F1 level. Note that this line contains neither Grapefruit nor Gelato.
Version two, the commercial cut: licensed operators growing Grapefruit Gelato on the East Coast attribute it to Archive Seed Bank as Gelato 33 × Lemon Lime. Gelato 33 is Sunset Sherbet × Thin Mint GSC. Archive’s “Lemon Lime” has no published parentage of its own. This version at least contains Gelato — but still no Grapefruit.
Both accounts come to us second-hand through seed retailers and dispensary menus; neither breeder publishes a first-party statement we could locate, and no release year is documented for either. Leafly has no page for this strain at all, and AllBud has no entry — which tells you something about how thin the public record is. Given that, we describe this flower by its COA and its aroma rather than by a lineage we cannot verify.
On classification. Every source that classifies it says Hybrid, so Hybrid is what we shelve it as. The disagreement is only about where inside that band — SeedFinder calls the seed line a balanced 50/50 while its own retailer calls it 60/40 sativa-leaning. We are not printing a percentage split when two sources describing the identical product contradict each other.
No awards. Grapefruit Gelato has no documented cup win under either lineage. Its Wedding Crasher grandparent placed 18th in the Outdoor category at the 2018 Emerald Cup — an eight-year-old 18th-place finish belonging to one grower’s outdoor entry of a different strain. That is not an award for this flower and we will not present it as one.
Do not confuse with: Grapefruit (Positronic Seeds, the actual limonene-dominant sativa), Grapefruit Kush, Romulan Grapefruit, Grapefruit Sorbet, Grapefruit Runtz, and above all Grape Gelato / Grapelato — a distinct strain with a nearly identical name that search engines conflate with this one constantly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Grapefruit Gelato Indica or Sativa?
It is a Hybrid. Every source that classifies it agrees on that; they disagree only on whether it is balanced or slightly sativa-leaning, so we do not publish a split. This particular batch, with myrcene at 52% of the terpene profile, presents on the relaxed, body-forward end of that range.
What does Grapefruit Gelato taste like?
Creamy grapefruit over sweet earth. Tart citrus peel on the draw from 0.35% limonene, a deep earthy-musky base from 1.37% myrcene, and a resinous pine finish from the combined 0.42% pinene, with a cool menthol touch on the exhale.
What is the dominant terpene in this Grapefruit Gelato batch?
β-Myrcene at 1.37% — 52% of the 2.64% total, and nearly four times the second-place terpene. Limonene follows at 0.35% and α-pinene at 0.29%.
If it is called Grapefruit Gelato, why isn’t it limonene-dominant?
Because neither documented lineage for this strain contains an actual Grapefruit parent — the name describes the aroma, not the genetics. The comparable grapefruit-named cultivars, Grapefruit Kush and Romulan Grapefruit, are both reported myrcene-dominant with pinene ahead of limonene, which is exactly this batch’s rank order. The one breeder-adjacent terpene listing published for Grapefruit Gelato also puts myrcene first.
What are the parents of Grapefruit Gelato?
It depends which one you have, and we are not going to guess. Precursor Genetics’ seed line is Secret Donor × Wedding Crasher; the commercially grown cut is attributed to Archive Seed Bank as Gelato 33 × Lemon Lime. Both have one parent with no published lineage, and neither cross includes a Grapefruit strain.
Has Grapefruit Gelato won any awards?
No. There is no documented cup win under either lineage.
How potent is this batch?
31.011% THCa with 32.324% total cannabinoids and 2.64% total terpenes — the highest THCa reading in this release.
Storage Instructions
Store Grapefruit Gelato in an airtight container in a cool, dark, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Limonene and pinene are the first to go, and they are the two notes carrying the grapefruit and the fuel over that heavy myrcene base — lose them to heat or light and what is left reads flat and earthy.
