Description
Alaskan Thunder Fuck (28.419% THCa) – Premium THCa Flower
Alaskan Thunder Fuck — ATF — is a Sativa THCa flower strain out of Alaska's Matanuska Valley, and one of the most storied names in American cannabis. This hydroponic batch tests at 28.419% THCa with 30.497% total cannabinoids and a 1.47% limonene-led terpene profile carrying an unusually high 0.18% α-cedrene. It is our most approachable potency in this release and the only top shelf hydro in the drop.
Overview
Alaskan Thunder Fuck is a Sativa strain associated with the Matanuska Valley in Alaska since the 1970s. This batch tests at 28.419% THCa, 25.167% total THC, and 30.497% total cannabinoids, with Δ9-THC at 0.243% and Δ8-THC at 0.031%. The minor cannabinoid fraction is led by 1.253% CBGa, with THCVa at 0.178%, CBCa at 0.160%, CBG at 0.095%, and trace CBDa, CBC, CBDVa, CBDV and CBN — a genuinely broad minor profile.
Total terpenes come in at 1.47%, led by limonene at 0.42% — about 29% of the whole profile — followed by β-myrcene (0.23%), α-cedrene (0.18%), linalool (0.17%), α-humulene (0.11%), β-pinene (0.07%), menthol (0.07%), endo-fenchyl alcohol (0.06%), α-pinene (0.05%), plus trace terpinolene, ocimene, cis-β-ocimene and camphene.
Two things worth being straight about. First, α-cedrene at 0.18% is rare in commercial flower — it is a woody, cedar-and-pencil-shavings terpene that most batches do not register at all, and it is the single most distinctive thing on this lab report. Second, caryophyllene was not detected in this batch. ATF is often listed as myrcene-dominant on consumer strain databases; this batch is decisively limonene-led, which actually lines up better with the citrus-and-pine aroma the strain has always been described by than the database listing does.

Aroma and Flavor
The nose is bright citrus first — that is the limonene — over a resinous pine-and-skunk base. What separates this batch is the cedar note underneath, carried by the 0.18% α-cedrene: dry, woody, almost sharpened-pencil, sitting where most sativas just give you more pine.
The flavor follows: lemon peel and grapefruit on the draw, a soft floral-lavender middle from the 0.17% linalool, and a cool menthol-and-cedar finish. With caryophyllene absent, there is no black-pepper bite on the exhale — it reads cleaner and more citrus-forward than most high-terpene sativas.
Effects and Usage
ATF is reported as an energetic, uplifting, and creativity-forward sativa. Users consistently describe a cerebral, talkative headspace with a euphoric edge and appetite stimulation, and long-time growers describe it as a "creeper" — the onset builds rather than arriving all at once.
Best suited to daytime use, creative work, conversation, and getting outside. At 28.419% THCa this is the gentlest entry point in this release, which makes it a reasonable choice if 31%+ flower has been too much in the past — but the creeper reputation is real, so give it time before reaching for more.
Strain Background
Alaskan Thunder Fuck — also called ATF, MTF, and Matanuska Thunder Fuck — has been associated with Alaska's Matanuska Valley since the early 1970s. High Times put it in print as early as 1974, and an August 1975 issue covering Alaska's landmark Ravin v. State decision cemented the name in cannabis folklore.
Its genetics are genuinely unresolved, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Consumer databases including Leafly and Weedmaps report a Northern California sativa crossed with Russian ruderalis and later bred to Afghani in the late 1970s — but no breeder has ever documented that cross, and it appears nowhere primary. SeedFinder does not list a cross at all, filing MTF under "Unknown or Legendary" and describing it as a regional designation for good Matanuska Valley cannabis rather than a specific cultivar. At least one long-time Alaskan cultivator, quoted in the industry press, argues the name was black-market branding applied to variations of Northern Lights #5 and Maui Wowie. Growers who claim to hold the original line say only a handful of people worldwide have it, and a Phylos Bioscience geneticist has said publicly that confirming a modern plant against the 1970s original is not possible for lack of comparable samples.
What we can tell you is what this specific batch is: hydro-grown, third-party lab tested, limonene-led, and carrying a cedar terpene that almost nothing else on our menu does. The rest is honest legend.
One award note: a high-CBD sample called Alaskan Thunderfuck won a CBD-content award at the 2011 High Times Medical Cannabis Cup in San Francisco. That was a cannabinoid-content award for one collective's specific sample — not a flower or sativa cup win for the strain, and not this batch.
Do not confuse ATF with Matanuska Tundra (Sagarmatha Seeds, a distinct Dutch indica), Matanuska Thunder (Brothers Grimm), Alaska Thunder Grape, or Cherry Thunder Fuck. Leafly maintains separate ATF and MTF pages with entirely different reported genetics.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Alaskan Thunder Fuck Indica or Sativa? Alaskan Thunder Fuck is a Sativa. Its effects are reported as energetic, euphoric, and creative, which is consistent with daytime sativa use.
What does Alaskan Thunder Fuck taste like? Bright lemon and grapefruit over pine and skunk, with a distinctive dry cedar note from α-cedrene and a cool menthol finish. This batch has no peppery bite because caryophyllene was not detected.
